What you get

LTE and 5G coverage data by carrier, band and H3 cell

Signal strength data (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR) aggregated from crowdsourced, de-identified measurements across US carriers, with the reading count on every row so you can judge the evidence yourself.

Measured coverage

H3 hexagons at resolutions 3 to 10 with RSRP, RSRQ and SINR statistics and reading counts, per carrier, band and generation (LTE and 5G NR).

Point and H3 lookup

Ask what was measured at a coordinate or an H3 cell and get the evidence by carrier and band, with no-data kept distinct from no-coverage.

Band deployment

Which carriers run which LTE and 5G NR bands across a market, from observed EARFCN and NR-ARFCN channels.

Cell identity roster

Cell identity and channel data: PCI, TAC, GCI, EARFCN or NR-ARFCN and band with signal statistics. Cell identity, not site locations.

Raw measurements

De-identified individual readings with exact time and position on paid plans, paged for analysis in your own tools.

Network benchmark

Carrier RF compared over the same measured cells, so you see each network on equal ground. RF evidence, not speed or a ranking.

Exports and feeds

CSV, Parquet, GeoParquet and GeoJSON exports, scheduled feeds on Scale and Enterprise, and webhooks when an export or feed is ready.

Data contract

Evidence, not an invented coverage surface

Aggregate evidenceEvery product is built from real measured readings, with no user or device identifiers. Aggregates publish every measured cell; raw measurements (paid plans) keep exact time and position but never who or which device took them.
Comparable benchmarksCarrier comparisons use only cells measured for both networks. They compare RF evidence, not speed or quality of experience.
Current provenanceResponses carry data version and refresh headers. Carrier, band, generation, and RF metrics stay queryable.
Explicit uncertaintyNo-data responses are distinct from no-coverage claims. Every published row carries its reading count.
Pricing

Transparent plans, starting with a free evaluation

No automatic overages. The API stops at the monthly unit limit.

License scope: Evaluation and self-service plans are for your organization’s internal analysis. Embedding data in a commercial, customer-facing, OEM, or white-label product requires an Enterprise agreement. Available to US-based organizations (organized in a US state or territory, with no ownership or control from a country of concern).

FAQ

Questions about the Coverage API

What data does the Coverage API provide?

Measured LTE and 5G NR coverage and signal statistics (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR) on H3 hexagons, per carrier, band and generation, plus point lookups, band deployment by market, cell identity and channel data, a paired-cell network benchmark and, on paid plans, de-identified raw measurements.

How is the data collected?

Phones running the LTE Discovery Android app record the cells they actually connect to and the signal they measure. Readings are crowdsourced from real devices in everyday use, not drive tests or propagation models.

Is the data de-identified?

Yes. User and device identifiers are removed before data reaches any product. Aggregates carry reading counts; raw measurements keep exact time and position but never who or which device took them.

Which areas are covered?

The United States. Density varies by place, carrier and time, so every result carries its reading count, and areas without enough evidence are reported as insufficient evidence rather than as no coverage. The free San Francisco sample shows what a market looks like.

Does it include cell tower locations?

No. The API provides cell identity and channel data such as PCI, TAC, GCI, EARFCN, NR-ARFCN and band, not site locations.

What formats can I get?

JSON and GeoJSON from the API, and CSV, Parquet, GeoParquet and GeoJSON exports. Scale and Enterprise plans can schedule recurring feeds, and webhooks tell your systems when an export or feed is ready.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The 14-day evaluation needs no card and gives you an API key in under a minute, scoped to one showcase metro. Free test keys also work in the San Francisco sandbox.

Who can buy it?

Plans and data licenses are available to US-based organizations. Self-service plans cover internal analysis; embedding data in a customer-facing or OEM product requires an Enterprise agreement.
