Fixed wireless & ISPs

Where is measured LTE and 5G signal strong enough for fixed wireless?

Plan fixed wireless access, cellular backhaul and failover with measured signal by band on an H3 grid, so your design starts from what phones recorded, not only a propagation model.

How fixed wireless teams use the Coverage API

Screen service areas on an H3 grid

Pull measured coverage hexes for a market at the resolution you plan with (H3 3 to 10), with RSRP, RSRQ and SINR percentiles per carrier, band and generation.

GET /coverage · H3 JSON or GeoJSON extract

Know the bands before you pick CPE

Band deployment shows which carriers run which LTE and 5G NR bands in the market, so CPE and antenna choices match the spectrum actually observed.

GET /band-deployment · carrier × generation × band

Qualify an address for LTE or 5G backhaul

Look up a subscriber address or a POP and see measured signal quality per carrier before you quote cellular backhaul or failover.

GET /lookup · one unit per location

Bring the data into your GIS

Export coverage as GeoParquet or GeoJSON and join it with your own sites, demand and terrain layers.

Exports · CSV, Parquet, GeoParquet, GeoJSON

What a measured market looks like

This is the live San Francisco sample of the LTE Discovery Coverage Intelligence API: every hexagon is an H3 cell where phones recorded LTE or 5G NR signal, coloured by the strongest P90 RSRP any carrier reached there. Your evaluation key returns the same kind of evidence, broken out per carrier and band.

  • Density varies. Busy areas have deep evidence; quiet areas can be thin. Every row carries its reading count.
  • No data is not no coverage. Places without enough readings come back as insufficient evidence.
  • Cell identity, not site locations. The API never publishes where towers are.
  • No rankings. We report measured signal per carrier and band and leave the conclusions to you.
  • US only. Data and plans cover the United States and US-based organizations.

Plans for fixed wireless teams

Regional ISPs usually fit Region or Scale. Nationwide or state-wide planning fits Enterprise. Self-service plans start at $249/month with transparent unit pricing.

FAQ

Questions from fixed wireless teams

Is this a propagation prediction?

No. Every value comes from real phone measurements aggregated to H3 cells, with reading counts. It complements propagation tools rather than replacing them.

Does phone data reflect a rooftop CPE?

Not directly. Phones measure at street and indoor level, so treat the data as evidence of carrier and band presence and relative signal, and allow for CPE antenna gain and height.

Which export formats are available?

CSV, Parquet, GeoParquet and GeoJSON, plus JSON and GeoJSON straight from the API.
