How LTE Discovery, by Simply Advanced LLC, collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Overview
LTE Discovery turns your Android phone into a cellular signal analyzer. To do that — and to build community coverage maps — the app reads radio measurements from your device and, with your permission, the location where each measurement was taken. We collect the minimum needed to provide these features and we do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
- Cellular measurements. Signal metrics (RSRP, RSRQ, SINR), network generation (2G–5G), band / EARFCN / ARFCN, bandwidth, and cell identifiers (GCI, PCI, TAC, PLMN / carrier).
- Location. When you grant location permission, the approximate or precise coordinates of a measurement, so it can be placed on a map. You can revoke this permission at any time in Android settings; the app still functions, without map placement.
- Device & app info. Device model, Android version, and app version, used for compatibility and diagnostics.
- Account (optional). If you sign in with Google, your email address and a Google account identifier, used only to associate your saved logs with your account.
- Commercial API account (optional). If you create a Coverage Intelligence organization, we store its name, billing email, accepted terms version/time, hashed API credentials, and aggregate request/usage records. Plaintext API keys are shown once and are not stored.
- Purchase / entitlement status (signed-in only). If you're signed in, the app reports what it has determined you own (e.g. Pro, an active subscription) to our server, so support can look up your purchase history and to prepare for account continuity on future platforms. This is a record, not a control — nothing reads it back to grant or restrict access; Google Play remains the actual record of your purchase. We rely on our legitimate interest in operating account support for this.
- Diagnostics. Aggregated crash and performance data to keep the app stable.
How we use it
- Display real-time signal information on your device.
- Save your measurement logs so you can review them over time.
- Build aggregated, anonymized coverage maps. Map tiles are only published where an area has at least five device readings — a minimum-sample floor, not a guarantee of five distinct devices — which reduces, but does not guarantee, the risk that an individual could be identified from the data.
- Provide, secure, meter, support, and bill for optional commercial access to aggregate Coverage Intelligence output.
- Diagnose problems and improve the app.
How we share it
We publish or license only aggregate coverage statistics; we do not sell personal data or individual device traces. We share data with service providers strictly to operate the service (cloud hosting and storage, identity, website analytics, and Stripe/Link for commercial billing when used), and when required by law. For Managed Payments, Link acts as merchant of record and receives billing, tax, payment, transaction-support, and subscription-management details.
Cookies & website analytics
On our website (ltediscovery.app) we use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) to understand aggregate usage — pages viewed, approximate region, referring site, and device/browser type. This uses cookies and sends data to Google, including to servers in the United States. The website sets no advertising cookies.
Analytics is governed by your consent (Google Consent Mode). Visitors in the EEA and the UK are opted out by default — no analytics cookies are set until you choose “Accept” on our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the website footer. Declining analytics does not affect any app or website functionality. See Google’s Privacy Policy and the Google Analytics opt-out.
For our commercial Coverage API, we also keep a first-party record of how a business account or sales inquiry found us — the campaign tags in the link, the referring site’s domain and the landing page (no full URLs or personal details). Advertising click identifiers (e.g. from Google or LinkedIn ads) are kept only if you have accepted analytics, and are deleted after 90 days.
Data retention
Measurement logs are retained to power coverage maps and your personal history. Account information is kept until you delete your account. Older raw data is moved to cold storage and aggregated. Commercial account deletion revokes API keys and deletes the Stripe customer; transaction or tax records may be retained where law requires.
Your rights & choices
- Revoke location or other permissions anytime in Android settings.
- Manage website analytics cookies anytime via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer (EEA/UK visitors start opted out until they accept).
- Request access to, or deletion of, your account and associated data (GDPR / CCPA). In the app, use the account screen's delete option, or email us. We honor verified deletion requests.
Children
LTE Discovery is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
