Where are the mobile coverage gaps, and what do measurements say about the claims?

Use measured LTE and 5G NR evidence by carrier and band to find where signal is weak or unmeasured, and to add an independent, crowdsourced view next to coverage claims and challenge processes.

How broadband program teams use the Coverage API

Map weak and unmeasured areas

Pull coverage hexes for a state and separate places with weak measured signal from places without enough evidence, which need field data rather than conclusions.

GET /coverage · H3 JSON or GeoJSON extract

Compare claims with measurements

Join measured hexes to the coverage areas you are reviewing and see where readings support or contradict a claimed technology or signal level.

Exports · CSV, Parquet, GeoParquet, GeoJSON

Track build-out by band

Band deployment by area shows where carriers have added LTE or 5G NR bands, useful context for program monitoring.

GET /band-deployment · carrier × generation × band

State-scoped licensing

Enterprise agreements can be scoped to the states you serve, with invoiced billing and terms for publishing results.

What a measured market looks like

This is the live San Francisco sample of the LTE Discovery Coverage Intelligence API: every hexagon is an H3 cell where phones recorded LTE or 5G NR signal, coloured by the strongest P90 RSRP any carrier reached there. Your evaluation key returns the same kind of evidence, broken out per carrier and band.

  • Density varies. Busy areas have deep evidence; quiet areas can be thin. Every row carries its reading count.
  • No data is not no coverage. Places without enough readings come back as insufficient evidence.
  • Cell identity, not site locations. The API never publishes where towers are.
  • No rankings. We report measured signal per carrier and band and leave the conclusions to you.
  • US only. Data and plans cover the United States and US-based organizations.

FAQ

Questions from broadband program teams

Can this data prove a location has no coverage?

No. A lack of readings is reported as insufficient evidence, not as no coverage. Use the data to target field tests and to support or question claims, alongside other evidence.

Can results be published?

Public citation of results requires prior written permission, and customer-facing use requires an Enterprise agreement. Tell us how you plan to publish and we will scope it.

Can a license cover only our state?

Yes. Enterprise agreements can be scoped to specific US states and billed by invoice.
